About Lake Lure
Lake Lure is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The lake covers over 700 acres with more than 20 miles of shoreline. Lake Lure was selected by National Geographic as one of the Ten Most Spectacular man-made lakes in the World. The Rocky Broad River flows through Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Lake Lure is located 14 miles east of Hendersonville NC and 28 miles southeast of Asheville NC.
The lake offers a marina, boat tours, motorized and non-motorized boat rentals, fishing, public swimming, a sandy beach and a water park with slides & water cannons and lifeguards.The Marina is open 7 days a week from 10:00AM-6:00 PM from April 1st - October 31st.
Many landmarks and attractions in the Town of Lake Lure were used in filming the legendary Patrick Swayze / Jennifer Grey movie, Dirty Dancing.
Lake Lure in western North Carolina has much to do! Lake Lure beach offers the Lake with a beautiful beach surrounded by spectacular views of the mountains .There are a number of golf courses in area and also putt putt, tennis, horseback riding, a gem mine, hiking at Chimney Rock Park , zip lining, lake side and river side dining, white water rafting, waterfalls and much more. Nearby attractions include Asheville , Biltmore Estate and Winery, Blue Ridge Mountains , Hendersonville, wineries, Dollywood, Great Smokey National Park, Grandfather Mountain, Sliding Rock, North Carolina Arboretum and so much more . Also, newly built Tryon International Horse Equestrian Center is 15 miles away.
